Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2N4LYYWFKRRUO I know the motion sensor is supposed to be an energy saving device, which it is (I would guess it saves maybe half the electricity used compared to not having the sensor), but I think the best thing about it is I don't have to bother ever switching it on or off.
I enter my living room it comes on, I leave my living room and it switches off! how cooool!. I update the internal memory about once a month with new photos and that's it. It does have some other unexpected advantages.
Me and the wife like messing around with it, we'll record quick video messages on our camera and stick it on the frame. We then leave the frame in the hallway so when the kids walk through the door late at night they get a 'Why are you home so late message!' and we don't even have to get out of bed!
We're going on holiday next week and we're planning on leaving a video message for any would be burglars that will play when the frame senses them. |
Better than I expected!!!

Having seen other pictures electronic picture frames, I really did not expect that much more quality than the average brand most people have. WAS I EVER WRONG!
I ordered this as an Easter gift for my Wife, but it seem I really bought for the both of us! Such vibrant, clear, and colorful images are reproduced! I often find myself daydreaming to when some of the pictures were taken (I have loaded family vacations & cruises on the memory card.)
Let's not forget how "brilliant" the motion sensor is on this device! What a true "treat" it is when walking past, and you are surprised with a fantastic slide-show of your favorite shots (have not tried video yet, but that will be soon!)Then setting a certain amount of time to have it shutoff automatically (if no motion has crossed the sensor) .... superb!
I don't get excited to the point of writing a lengthy review, but I have to say I am so happy that I purchased this item, and will be buying more! Fantastic gift and a true enhancement to the living room and bedroom!
By the way, another "plus" is that on the manufacturer's website ([...]), there was mention of a firmware upgrade. I clicked on the link, which generated an email message, and within a few hours I received the file via email (on a SUNDAY!)
OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE AND an OUTSTANDING PRODUCT! |

I bought five of these for work... and they are great!
PRO:
Motion Sensor... I can't imagine buying a frame without one!
Easy to figure out... after a little bit of effort.
Remote works nice.
Great image quality.
Good looking frame with no obnoxious company logo on the front like some other frames.
CONS:
The fade transition is not real smooth, but the other transitions work well. |
NIX X10A Hands Free Frame Purchase From Amazon

I critiqued many digital picture frames on the internet and even looked to see how Consumer Reports rated various brands. I finally saw the Nix on the internet and after reading the glowing recommendations, ordered the X10A. I just love it. No more need to have prints made and stuff into cumbersome photo albums. I found that Nix had an upgrade available for this model and had some problems downloading it until I contacted Nix and they pointed me it the right direction and now all is well. Great unit and great support. |

Wow - I've tried several digital photo frames - for myself and as gifts (I test them and fill an SD card before giving them so I know they are decent quality) and this is shockingly simple, yet high quality at the same time. The others I have tried were good quality but took some time to figure out. Since all of them took time to figure out, and reviews all said the same about all the ones I looked at, I figured that was normal and just goes with the territory. This one is far above every single other one I have tried. WHY?
You put the SD card in, plug it in, turn it on, and it works immediately. If you like the settings, just have photos etc., you're finished. For those of you who want to give this as a gift to someone who isn't techno-savvy or gets annoyed trying to figure out things - grandparents, parents, any non-electronics person, this is the frame to buy.
The remote actually WORKS!
It automatically shows all photos in the proper view - whether it is horizontal or vertical, they all are viewed properly without having to rotate them at all - however, you can use the remote to rotate, zoom, stop on a picture etc. But - you don't have to because it does it for you.
You can show them in the original format or cropped or variety of other options and anything you want to do can be done by remote.
You don't need a tiny eyeglasses screwdriver to make it function, no button to push in that requires a toothpick to press it in...nothing annoying but forgivable like the others each had something that was annoying but still worth owning. Not this one - nothing annoying or frustrating about it.
Split screen function is optional and shows one, two, three, four photos....however if your photos are all different sizes (like scanned photos that are old 4x4 and some 4x6) then they do show up slightly uneven on the split screen - but it works great and still looks good.
Motion sensor - IT WORKS! 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 min, 24 hours or you can turn it off so if you have it on the wall or on a bookshelf across the room, it will keep running without having to walk by - of course you have a remote so you can change it anyway. I gave it a 3 on energy saver because although it will save energy by using the motion sensor/auto shut off/auto turn on - it's not like it's an air conditioner or a huge TV - it saves power, but really doesn't deserve 5 stars because it's not like it saves much.
Bottom line - it's easy to setup, use, is a quality product and is better than any of the other digital frames I have tried. |
